Types of Scholarships to Study in Malaysia

1. Malaysia International Scholarship (MIS) - The Malaysian International Scholarship (MIS) by the Malaysian government is awarded to international students possessing excellent academic achievements, leadership qualities, and a strong commitment to contribute to their home country after completing their studies in Malaysia.

2. Malaysian Technical Cooperation Programme (MTCP) Scholarship - The MTCP Scholarship is a program offered by the Malaysian government to provide financial assistance for international students from developing countries to pursue higher education in Malaysia. The program aims to promote technical cooperation and human resource development among developing countries. The scholarship covers tuition fees, living expenses, and round-trip airfare to Malaysia.


Eligibility:

  • A minimum of a bachelor's degree or equivalent in a related field. 
  • Have a minimum of two years of work experience in their field of study. 
  • Meet the language requirements of the program, which vary depending on the language of instruction of the chosen course.

The MTCP Scholarship covers a range of fields of study, including agriculture, engineering, science and technology, social sciences, and Islamic finance. The duration of the scholarship varies depending on the level of study, with up to five years for PhD programs.

3. ASEAN Scholarships for Postgraduate Studies - The scholarship is open to citizens of ASEAN member countries who have completed their undergraduate studies and have been accepted into a postgraduate program in a fellow ASEAN member country. The scholarship covers tuition fees, living expenses, and round-trip airfare.

The ASEAN Scholarships for Postgraduate Studies covers a range of subjects, including science and technology, social sciences, and humanities. The duration of the scholarship varies depending on the level of study, with up to two years for master's programs and up to three years for doctoral programs.

4. Malaysian International Scholarship
 (MIS) by the Malaysian government is awarded to international students possessing excellent academic achievements, leadership qualities, and a strong commitment to contribute to their home country after completing their studies in Malaysia.

Highlights:

  • The scholarship covers full tuition fees, monthly living allowances, medical insurance, and other benefits such as thesis allowance, book allowance, and airfare. 
  • The scholarship is available for postgraduate studies at selected Malaysian universities in various fields of study, including science and engineering, agriculture and fisheries, economics, humanities, arts, and social sciences. 

Eligibility:

  • Must be an undergraduate with a minimum CGPA of 3.5
  • Have a minimum working experience of three years
  • Have a strong command of English and meet the English language proficiency requirements of the scholarship.

Malaysian Undergraduate Scholarships for International Students

  • Malaysian Government Scholarship - The Malaysian Government offers undergraduate scholarships to both Malaysian and international students to study in Malaysia or abroad. The scholarship covers tuition fees, living expenses, and other benefits.
  • Albukhary Foundation Scholarship - This scholarship is offered to international students from marginalised communities in developing countries to pursue undergraduate courses in Malaysia. The scholarship offers 100% tuition fee waiver, accommodation, meals, uniforms, insurance, monthly allowance for deserving international students.
