Eligibility Criteria to Get PR in the UK

  • You can apply for permanent residency in the UK after five years. This happens when you have lived in the country for more than five years.
  • If you have married a citizen of the UK, and have a parent or a dependent relative who happens to be a citizen of the UK, then you can apply for an Indefinite Leave To Remain (ILR).
  • A good code of conduct with no criminal record will help you to gain an ILR easily.
  • You can apply for UK permanent residency if you have a work visa for more than five years. There is an additional criterion that needs to be satisfied. They are:
    • The employer must be willing to sponsor you.
    • You need to have a minimum earning of £25,000. And you also have supporting documents to prove it.
    • There is also an exception in case you happen to be a healthcare provider you don't have to satisfy the criterion mentioned above.

How long does it take to get permanent residency in the UK after completing a PR course?

Once you have completed your studies and earned yourself a degree in the UK, your UK student visa ceases to exist. After the student visa expires, you can also apply for a skilled work visa or a Tier-2 visa.

To get the Tier-2 visa,

  • You should have a minimum earning of around £26,000.
  • You should have a confirmed job with you before applying for the visa.
